The promise of vibrant communities and a stronger Arizona starts at home.

Our Mission

Across Arizona, there is a shortage of rental homes affordable and available to extremely low income households. Many of these households are severely cost burdened, spending more than half of their income on housing. These households are more likely than other renters to sacrifice necessities like healthy food and healthcare to pay the rent, and to experience unstable housing situations like evictions.

Home Matters® to Arizona is the first statewide Home Matters initiative focused on a new generation of affordable housing, connected communities, and healthier individuals, families, and economies.

The Home Matters Arizona Fund

A new, ultimately $100 million fund (debt and grants) leveraging government, philanthropy and national private investment.

By aligning the pooled grant fund with other public and private dollars and providing access to low interest debt, the Home Matters Arizona Fund intends to address affordable housing needs at scale, adding critical housing units to a system that has left far too many unsheltered, while broadening the mindset of housing developers beyond the four walls of a home.

Fund Criteria

The Home Matters Arizona Fund seeks projects that align with the values established by the Home Matters national movement. The Home Matters Arizona Fund will prioritize and fund promising projects positioned to demonstrate measurable and positive outcomes focused on specific populations, geographic areas and the community at-large. Sample criteria for eligible Home Matters to Arizona projects include:

·      Overall Project Impact

·      Demographic and Geographic Focus

·      Connectedness to Community/Placemaking

·      Collaboration and Partnerships

·      Resident Engagement and Community Life

Our Vision and Principles | Home Matters:

For Individual Success

People who live freely and recharge at home do better at work and are more engaged with the world around them.

For Education

Children in stable homes learn and achieve more in school. Home helps level the playing field.

For Health

Healthy habits are more accessible when you liven a stable, affordable home. Children get the healthy start they deserve, and seniors live with dignity.

For Public Safety

When people can count on their home, a stronger sense of community keeps streets, neighborhoods and towns safer.

For a Strong Economy

At all income levels, people living in homes they can afford have more to spend. Local jobs growth and a strong economy start at home.
